In seventh heaven: Erra and Emran sharing a private moment during their engagement ceremony in Damansara on Friday.PETALING JAYA: From Engku Emran Engku Zainal Abidin’s family were five trays of gifts including two white gold rings, tepak sirih (betel leaf container), cloth, a pair of shoes and a cake.
Erra Fazira’s side reciprocated with seven trays comprising tepak sirih, songket, cloth, a songkok, buttons for Baju Melayu, a pair of shoes and a cake.
After reciting pantun (poems) and obtaining words of acceptance from their family members, singer/actress Erra Fazira and Suria FM chief operating officer (COO) Engku Emran Engku Zainal Abidin presented the traditional hantaran (bridal gifts) at the majlis pertunangan (engagement ceremony) held at Erra’s house in Damansara.
The couple have yet to set a wedding date, but it will either be as early as after Hari Raya or as late as December. As for the mas kahwin (marriage fee), Erra only requested for a copy of the Quran.
Erra, who was wearing a Jovian Mandagie outfit for this event, said: “My only wish is to do what is required.
“Having an X amount of money as mas kahwin is not important, I just want the Quran as it has a higher value for me.
“Both our families are keen on having a small event when it happens.”
Hence, both sides are not revealing any figures related to the gifts. As for other wedding plans, Engku Emran said they haven’t even thought about it, as they do not know when it will take place . [thestar]
